Do you ever wish your kids came with instructions? Would you like your home life to run a little more smoothly?
There is no book entitled “How To Parent”. Parenting is one of the toughest, yet most rewarding jobs that we have NEVER been trained to perform. As a parent, it is our job to protect and enhance our children’s emotional development, skills and intellect, as well as assisting them in becoming a responsible and productive part of society. We are expected to accomplish all of this while maintaining a calm and orderly household, keeping our spouses content and working either outside the home, or as a full time parent inside the home.
Well, reality doesn’t always permit this to go as smoothly as we would like it, does it? As much as we think we are doing everything right, behavior problems with children are not uncommon. But there is help for parents. We can work together in assisting your child down the best path for her/him. Working on firm but flexible limits, as well as consistency has shown positive results with children and teens. Parenting is challenging and kids can be tough.
Some common issues are:
- Disrespect
- Talking back
- Aggression
- Not listening
- Arguing with siblings and parents
- Problems in school
- Drugs
- ADHD/ADD
- Social Skills
- Lack of motivation or drive
These are all very real problems and there is support for parents available. Kids require patience and there are proven techniques to increase patience which you and your children can both benefit from. We won’t give you the parenting handbook you wished for, but together we may help to write your own for you and your child.
